I have been trawling through all the BWF and firesafe info but seems when it comes to the crunch they specify the building regs. My problem is we have a door is off the main corridor leading to a stairway and a fire exit at the bottom, the stairway (internal) is the only exit for a group of offices upstairs (8). I am presuming that this door requires to be a fire door, resistant to 30+ mins and also requires Intumescent seals. ATM I cannot identify it as being a fire door (apart from the georgian glass) there are no labels or distinguishing marks. There are also no Intumesecent seals, door depth is approx 4cm, sounds hollow and not hardwood. Im looking at getting the door replaced but need to be able to justify why which means putting finger to page and quoting the reg Any help much appreciated Des

Posted By Ken Taylor If people upstairs need to use this stairway in order to escape, the door needs to be a fire door. I would expect this to be self-closing and, in an older building (not historic), will probably close onto 25mm stops. If it needs replacing, specify a 30min fire door.
