Posted By andrew c Be aware that if you fit a switch plate cover that uses a neon lamp wired between the live and switch live then this switch is no longer able to be used to isolate the light for mechanical maintenance and can only be used for functional switching.
Therefore, some other means of isolating the light fitting for cleaning or changing lamps will be required.
The neon will allow a small amount of current to flow when the switch is off and could potentially cause electric shock to anyone maintaining the light fitting.
It will also play havoc with any "volt-stick" that a cautious electrician might use for protection from such shock.
