Who has had dealings with Corporate Social Responsibility

I have had dealings in various safety systems IE 9001,14001,18001, but i recently read an article on (CSR) Corporate social responsibility which i found quite interesting.
The main point was that CSR needs to be seen as an investment in a strategic asset, rather than an expense, which also contributes to sustainability. It went on to say a recent study by CBI indicated that sustainability makes a significant positive contribution to business success. Which obviously sounds positive.
Although reporting is not compulsory even though the government encourages companies to report on their CSR performance.
So basically what experiences do people have of being involved in CSR or the reporting of it? and do they find it a good thing to do? Also can anyone point me in the direction of finding more out about it?

On the question of corporate social responsibility, social responsibility, or corporate governance, (or whatever else you want to call it), I recommend keeping your eyes on the Company Law Reform Bill that is currently in the Lords.
The Bill contains some interesting directors' duties.
Regards.
