Hello,
We are thinking of introducing a work uniform for all staff in our organisation, which would be provided to staff free of charge. I am seeking advice more on the discriminatory possibilities of staff feeling they have to wear the uniform. We are wanting to impose that the guys wear trouser suits, and the women wear skirt suits.
I am seeking advice on what legal/human rights obligations we have with regards to uniforms and what would happen if a woman refused to wear a skirt (or indeed a man wanted to!).

Vernon,
think you would have to give the females the option of skirt or trousers.....and possibly the males.
Has Tess got a uniform?

You are obsessed with Tess! She has a uniform but it is not the thing which suits her most!
Do any women have good/bad experience of being forced to wear uniforms at work? It would be very helpful knowing the type of things people prefer.

What type of business is this?
For one thing suits are a very personal piece of clothing, if they are cheap and nasty then they will be uncomfortable and look/fit crap.
I for one would no wear a cheap poorly fitting suit.
Suits need to be tailored professionally for each person.
