Happy Halloween Everyone!
Does anyone have any ways of dealing with Trick or Treaters who call at workplaces? We are based near a residential area and have regular visits around this time of year. Last year we were left with damage to employee cars caused by the Tricksters.
Any ideas?

If you have got gates on your site, keep them locked except for legitimate access.

Stand outside and tell them some of your jokes, that will surely frighten them off!

We have CCTV but as they are costumed they are not identifiable. Last time it was silly string on the windows and keying cars mainly. We do not have lockable gates .

Vernon,
with a bit of pre planning, you could have arranged today as "bring your big dog to work" day......perhaps next year then???

You could participate by buying a big bag of fruit and giving a piece to every potential miscreant! With a bit of luck, they won't come back next year if they know they will only get an apple or an orange.

My partner's response to 'trick or treat' is 'I'll have a treat please' this usually foxes them,

Thanks, yes I love a nice treat from my partner Tess, but that is digressing!
Yes I should also have brought my dogs to work.

Can't help but think the damage would increase.
'Keying' is criminal damage and serious enough for you to consider increased security or a chat with the local police.
A couple of days earlier and you might have got a nice letter-headed notice from the police that you could have posted on your gates.

Why not put someone in the car park on watch ?
A visible deterrent may just be the trick.

I have a couple of secretarial staff who may be mistaken for a canine species so could be worth a try! I am unsure the police notice would have any effect, we have had some harmless visitors already, but it is afternoon/evening they were here last year. We close around 8pm, so it is ensuring our building is not damaged that I struggle to cover.

A well placed size 10 sounds like a good ide, or you could just dish out some sweets and not end up in court.

I am a great believer in the fruit solution to trick or treat. I hand out a satsuma to all such callers - they are getting a healthy treat but it may discourage them as it is not what they would like!

Hi All
The Moderators feel that this thread has now run its course, and it has only had a tenuous link to Health and Safety.
It has therefore now been locked.
