Hi All,
I am trying to source a supplier of machinery for lifting road kerbs in N.I. and in the Liverpool/Manchester areas.
So far the cost is astronomical and some of the machinery isn't that good- requiring some manual handling- not acceptable.
So, can anyone out there able to point me in the direction of a decent supplier of such machinery?
Cheers,
Lee

Lee,
I worked for a plant and tool hire company who did a roaring trade in "vacuum" lifting equipment for kerbstones. I would think that most hire companies do the same sort of stuff.
There is also the "grab" type but dont know about them?
Have you googled?

I don't think the hoist would be the right option (I stand to be corrected!!), but if you used a hoist- would this not require a little manual handling to manipulate the hoist from the road kerb and then to put the kerb into the required position.
And as we all know the HSE prohibit the incorporation of manual handling of any type when working with road kerbs.
So I was looking at a suction device, but I am open to other options.
Again it all boils down to money, we act as PC and sub-contract all work, but we try to help our subbies out where we can thus we are looking to buy this piece of equipment for them to use.

Can you not use a contractor, or simply use the same machinery as the UK highways agency uses for replacing worn kerbs.

A very nice lady emailed me direct with this link:
http://www.loadlift.com/lift_vacuum.html
Items seem to be fairly competitive, but if anyone knows of a more competitive supplier......
Thanks to all who helped me on this one,
Lee
