Has anyone any specific 'Risk Assessment' advice concerning 'Dog Boarding Kennels & Catteries'? Any pointers for the more specific or unusual risks gratefully received!
Take care!

This can be quite complex
areas to explore
Various Zoonoses
Coshh -there are some nasty disinfectants etc
Manual Handling - including the animals
One end bites - the other end produces something which can be harmful -which comes under control of waste
Noise
Control of medications -incuding lethal injections (dependant on the type of kennels)
specialist insurance is required for working with animals
thats all i can think of for now

Just had a word with a pal who runs one and surprise surpise! "What's a risk assessment" I give up, I really do.
The above post covers most areas, I do like the other end bit though, I might actually have missed that.

You know Charley, you do sometimes seriously mislead folk.
It is quite possible to carry out and implement full workplace precautions and control measures without knowing or ever hearing of the expression 'risk assessment'. A large number of catteries and/or kennels do this quite successfully year after year.
How about researching the accident figures for kennels and catteries - although hopefully you did this before going into print.
Many kennels and catteries are run by just one or two people, so first of all they do not need to record assessments, and secondly they are right on top of the job, they know the risks and automatically put into place the measures to avoid risk. Perhaps you should consider giving credit where it is due before throwing your hands in the air and giving up.
I seem to remember you saying it was a legal requirement to carry out two fire evacuation drills earlier this year! That was wrong as well but I note you never retracted that statement.
