Posted By Richard Forster Apologies if this was a previous thread. Any large (5,000 employees plus eg local authorities inc children services etc) using roving safety reps at all? If so I would be interested to hear your experiences of this. Cheers...

Posted By Paul Devlin Hi Richard The idea of roving reps has been kicking around for years and theres been a few trials by some of the bigger unions but it wont amount to much I'm afraid. Unless there is a change to the legislation which allow union reps to serve improvement notices on companies then its basically not worth the effort. The Australians have the system in place and it seems to work very well, it would certainly ease the burden on the HSE in my opinion. It might be better if any of our antipodean cousins can chip in with their experiences of it or indeed any other country that has adopted the ideal of roving reps. cheers
