Posted By Robert S Woods I received the following info in an email this morning. "Do you know if it has been a legal requirement since October for all people who test fire extinguishers to be BSI registered"? I understood they have always had a registration scheme but not with the BSI can someone clarify ? Bob

Posted By Thomas Kennedy Have a read at BS 5306-3:2003. It's the code of practice for the inspection and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers. The usual criteria about "competent person" applies. I hope this answers your question.

Posted By shaun mckeever Robert there is no legal requirement for extinguisher maintenance engineers to be registered with bsi. the normal places for extinguisher maintenance engineers to be registered are:- 1. http://www.bafe.org.uk/ or 2. http://www.feta.org.uk/ Contact either one of these and they will give you precisely the answer you need.
