Posted By RBW Yes Metal Man. It appears someone who used to work at IOSH HQ is apparently trying to cause chaos. They are posting malicious messages.

Posted By Paul Devlin I was wondering the same thing and I've been on regularly, seems to be some form of forum vandalism/anarchy by person(s) unknown, some people seem to have an idea of who but I'm in the dark as always some would say?

Posted By RBW It appears someone uses the names of comedians and superheros to post annoying messages on the forum since they were sacked from working at IOSH HQ. That is all I can say.

Posted By ITK I am starting to become disillusioned by these forums of late. A lot of newbies appear to have come aboard lately with the sole intention of abusing people and or causing arguments. I suspect a lot of regulars have given it up as a bad job too. My suggestion is to close the public forums and just keep the members forums. ITK

Posted By MetalMan I have to admit I too have noticed a change to the general "feel" of the forums over the last couple of months. Whilst not wanting to sound like a stuffed shirt I feel the general quality of the site has suffered. Whilst agreeing that the site is of use to non IOSH members, I do agree that the public forum is rather turning into a free for all where any anonymous poster can post/comment on anything they like and give the most appalling advice with no recourse apart from being banned. There are a few other forums where beginners/Joe public/non IOSH members can get advice if they need to. I am no expert in the field of health and safety but it is my job, there are occaisions where I genuinely require accurate advice from a professional/more experienced advisor on this forum, I now find my self reluctant to do this at times due to the degredation of the site as a whole.

Posted By Neal Clark Hi all, Unfortunately the discussion forums have recently been targeted by individuals who are causing disruption amongst legitimate forum users. This activity is commonly referred to as ‘Trolling’, and we have recently posted messages on the forums to alert our users to this. (see http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...um=2&thread=23603&page=1) The moderators are grateful for the support received from IOSH members and ask that you simply IGNORE any messages which you suspect may not be genuine. If you have any specific concerns, please email webteam@iosh.co.uk. We would also STRONGLY ADVISE that you find out if a person is bona fide before sending them any personal details or documents such as a CV. You might ask for the name of their employer, and do independent checks to see whether it is genuine. Forum users can also assess past contributions from individual forum users by making use of our forum search facility (see http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...cfm?go=discussion.search). Many thanks, The Moderating Team. Posted on behalf of the moderating team by Neal Clark, Web Co-ordinator.
