Has anyone got any office related Safety Management Systems that I can look at? I am trying to put together one for my office and could do with some assistance.
Many Thanks
Chris

Posted By Raymond Rapp Not sure what you mean by 'office safety managment system'? The priniciples of a SMS are well defined in the MHSWR Reg 5 and HSG65. Is it not possible to devise a system based on those basic MHSWR principles? Each system should be tailored to the individual company and aligned to the objectives of the organisation.

Posted By DavidW Another good place to start is to look at the OHSAS18001 standard. Even if you have no intention of geting external accreditation to it, it sets out what is needed from any HSMS and as said above this then needs to be tailored to your particular workplace.

Posted By Salus CCB, #1 is the H & S policy. look at your companies job titles, add H & S responsibilities and who they are accountable to. Train employees if the responsibilities require them to do things where they are not competent Add rules and procedures for working practises and any hazardous situations, always include persons carrying out the tasks to have input Other employees or contractors may come onto site. detail arrangements for looking after, training / SSOW / Env. / plant & equipment / Fire / welfare / first aid / emergency procedures / monitoring
