Posted By mbarrett Hi Does anybody have any info on tungsten tip grinding, my lads are concerned about the amount of thorium they could be exposed to. On average they grind for a maximum total of 20 mins per day (not all at one go) I have tried getting them to use the gold tips but say they prefer to use the red tips as you get a better weld result. The grinder we have at present is not enclosed however the weld shop is a very small area of the business and my employer is loathe to spend a vast amount on an enclosed tip grinder if the exposure levels are negligible. I have tried looking in EH40 but cannot see anything that refers specifically to grinding dust from tungsten tips. Any help gratefully received!
