Wonder if I could place a question to all the construction safety advisers out there and gain some feedback. Just wondered what your thoughts are with regard to wearing rigger boots on constructions sites rather then laced up boots? It is due to my concerns over ankle support when working on rough terrain, using ladders etc for access and hot fragments during cutting activities. I understand it is down to risk assessment, but this topic was recently raised in a meeting and we have employees that will wear nothing but riggers.

worn them since the early 70's and have found that there are no real support problems and I have found no good evidence to show otherwise

one manager I knew was adamant that they should not be worn but could never give a good arguement - in my experience UK army boots
are not as good as other countries boots re ankle support but we still supply them
