Posted By Adrian Cameron Anyone got any thoughts on training courses that deal specifically with this? Or does a general confined spaces training course deal with this?
Anyone know of any invaluable emergency rescue equipment they use? Wrappable stretchers?

Posted By Pat Hannaway Hi Aidrian, rescues from Confined Spaces depends very much upon the type of Confined Space e.g. manhole, grain silo, inside a vehicle tanker etc. If it is for the water industry there are courses provided by a company called Develop Solutions (I am in no way connected with them). They are quite expensive, but have extensive experience going back over 20 years in the Water Industry. Here is a link to their brochure. http://www.develop-solut.../health%20&%20safety.pdfHSE produce an excellent little booklet (free) which gives reasonable advice on the subject. Pat H

Posted By Adrian Cameron Pat, thanks for that, I have duly printed.
The industry we are in is ship work within dockyards and drainage work.

Posted By garyh General Confined Spaces training courses are not enough. In my experience many organisations are not switched on to the ACOP requirement to have credible rescue plans........they think dialling 999 will do when it will not.
I used a company called NUTEC who did excellent rescue training.
