I think part p covers domestic installation work and specifically those in wet areas ie kitchens and bathrooms etc. I would have thought that any reputable electrical engineer would have this accreditation, certainly would go a way to proving competence.

I'm surprised that local authority engineers arnt Part P compliant.......

but might be completely wrong in my thinking!!

it may be that the firm is registered a Part P compliant but individuals arent, ie employees work under the companies approval, much like a company being CORGI approved for gas and its employees arent

For electrical installation work in special locations:

Personnel qualified but not registered with a competent body must notify building control to certify the completed work in accordance with part P.

Personnel not qualified must contact building control before they carry out any electrical work.

You may find that there is one overall supervisor that inspects the work of a team and certifies the installation in accordance with Part P requirements.
