Descarte is right, but are you talking about who is the designated health and safety advisor or who would be responsible legally in any civil or criminal case that may be brought??.

Look at the CDM regs and Construction (Health Safety & Welfare)Regs

Tell you who is responsible for what. The ACOP will be your best bet for in detail of what is expected such as site inductions etc etc etc

Mitchel,
The site owner is the person who is ultimately responsible for the health and safety of people on there site, but under the health and safety at work act everyone has a responsibility of there own and others health, safety and welfare.

The client is responsible for employing a competent principal contractor.

The principal contractor is responsible for Health & Safety on site.

What are you studying at collage.

You need to look at the relevant legislation and approved code of practices. Everything you need to know is within them. Including who is responsible for what.

Its a very long question to answer properlly your talking 4000+ words to answer the question correctly.

Hi Mitchell

Have a look here:

http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/information.htm

Lots of free construct information leaflets that should answer your question & more.

What are your other four questions?
There is bound to be somebody here who will help answer them.

All right, I will ask the question - is this a wind up?

If not, apologies to Mitchell and credit to you for finding this site to pose the questions.

I would have thought your tutor might have given you information on researching the answers, perhaps you could go back to him/her for clarification.

Otherwise, follow the advice given on this site but make sure the answers are your own so that you will be able to defend them if challenged.

Best of luck.

Malcolm

Mitchell, can you e-mail me the exact questions that you have been given? A few years ago I helped several colleagues with their degree dissertations in construction management.

Ralph,

Although nice of you, I would not agree that this would help if mitchell was ever asked to justify or provide clarity on the answers he has given!

Try the HSE website and search the construction pages..
There is tonnes of Site safety material.

And it always helps to understand th answers befor e you give them!

Refer to CDM and roles of the PC, then go to Section 7 & 8 HASAWA 74, further sections to concider Sections 2 & 3, further go to reg 3.1 mang regs 99, how about COSHH, hope that has answered your question, PC is in charge.

JPK, I have no intentions of writing anything for anyone’s essay’s/ dissertation I merely offer help and assistance in looking at what they have already achieved and seeing if there is further scope for improvement.
