Posted By JayneAnne Ridgway Can anybody clarify a disagreement please
We are a manufacturer and produce non hazardous product however our MSDS are in English and we supply to Finland sending English MSDS to them. They have got in contact with our sales dept, and have quoted some European Law that by Law we have to send MSDS in the language relevant to that appropriate country, are they correct?

Posted By garyh I believe that the duty is on the IMPORTER, rather than the producer.
Check out the CHSS (Chemical Hazard Communication Society) website for advice.
In any case, with respect, I think that you are missing a trick here - if a customer wants it, then surely you have to give it. I had this situation in a previous role where the importer / distributor on the continent wanted this. We supplied them even though we were not compelled to - the customer is always right!
Another thought occurs - these goods (If Dangerous Goods) will require TREM cards in the language of the countries being driven through also?

Posted By Ron Hunter But if your products are non-hazardous (as you state) there is no duty to supply MSDS - in any language!

Posted By Jonathan Sandler CMIOSH it might not be the duty agreed, but good business practice might be a better way of looking at it also form a cost point of view.
