Posted By Gerry Mcaleney Hi Everyone, Has anyone any experience of completing one of the said Assessments and if so could someone send me a copy to set me on my way so to speak . I know they would be specific to the Premises that are being assessed but i'm not sure how far you need to go with the information . I was going to cover everything so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.Gerry

Posted By Dave Wilson Is this the Material Risk assessment?
Or
The Priority RA
Material RA done by surveyor as the corner stone of the Asbestos Management Plan and priority RA done by the building duty holder to give an indication of the 'priority' to manage.
If its the priority you need to read the Comprehensive guide to managing Asbestos in premises and I can send you a template for this but you will still need to collate & incorporate this into your management plan.

Posted By Adrian Watson Dave,
Neither the material assessment nor the priority assessments are risk assessments! This is a common misconception. However, a risk assessment is required before any works are carried out which may disturb asbestos.

Posted By Dave Wilson I disagree mate as they are risk assessments of sorts as you are assessing the risk of likely fibre release and then assessing the risk of the likelihood of that fibre release and the risk that some one my inhale those fibres and hey presto you then have a risk based management plan!
If that's not a risk based approach to managing your asbestos I don't know what is!
If we are talking about a risk assessment to undertake work on asbestos then you are correct as they are separate things!
If anyone needs to understand how to do one of these to work with asi I strongly suggest you dont until you are clued up as you could be putting peoples health at risk.
In the new ACoP it tells you what competencies you need to do this and gives you an 18 point summary of what to include.
I have modified our RA/MS to reflect the new changes so if thats what you are after let me know!

This replaces L27 / L28 and L11 as the Licensing Regs , Prohibition Regs as well as the CAWR 2002 are now ll in one ACoP.
Reg 6 & 7 talk about Risk Assessment & Plans of work, competencies and what should be included.
