Posted By holyterror72 Jonathan,
You could put some Iron Maiden or Slayer stickers on your clipboard to make it more interesting.

Very well put indeed. It puts the job of a health and safety professional in a short sentence. I will remember this.

Posted By John Murgatroyd Hmmm. Industrial disease is on the up, accidents are not exactly going down a lot. The costs of H&S are going up, with no noticeable cost effectiveness. Everywhere you turn there's some guy in a tweed jacket with a clipboard telling you "NO". Companies are closing because of the costs of running them...red tape, red tape and more red tape. Try selling H&S on doorstep, or in an office. Exactly. Face it, you're the lepers of industry. So, the finale, does having an active and forward-looking H&S policy reduce costs and accidents. No. Most companies muddle-along on H&S, and they don't have a noticeably higher accident rate. You're trying to sell sand in a desert.

Posted By Merv Newman i often work for a company which has emphasised the safety factors of the cars it builds. (5 star).
So they build safe cars. My job is to help them to build cars safely.
as for the washers analogy, I do not know how to make washers. I do not know how to build cars.
I do not even know how to make ladie's underwear.
But, whatever you do, I'm going to help you to do it safely.
A thought has just struck me. Going back to my earlier posting on this thread about a TV series on H&S. Could we sponsor a programme on safety in a Y-Front factory ? (please don't dwell too much on the band-saws)
Mer (a bit amputated there)
