Posted By Karel Simpson Hi,
I am working for a comnstruction company that have no noise assessments in place, now I have just been authorised to purchase the kit needed inc callibrator.
What is the best way to record these findings? I ahve briefly done this in the past but only written them into a report. Does anybody have any good examples they could possibly send me?
Thank you KS

Posted By David Bannister Hi Karel, have you considered whether your organisation has the level of competence available to not only perform the noise measurements but just as importantly interpret the results, assess any risks to personnel or possibility of nuisance noise, develop appropriate controls if needed, provide the necessary information, instruction and training to affected persons, arrange for health surveillance if needed...
The Institute of Acoustics offer courses that will teach all this, including how to choose a noise meter to do the job required and suggested ways of preparing reports.
Sorry to sound like one of the perpetual snipers found on this forum but your posting seemed to indicate that you need a little more than advice on how to present your findings. Apologies if I've misinterpreted.

Posted By Karel Simpson No need to offer nay apology, I agree with some of your comments.
I am trying to find a course at this current moment. Main reason I am asking is to try and get the ball rolling as we have nothing in existennce and our lads use power tools every day so my thought was to try and start laying the foundations to show that we are at least looking at this subject. I have previously carried out noise monitoring in the past in previous employments but that was adding to an already extensive database. However I need to ensure this is done right this time round as this will be what people add to throughout the company.
Thank you for your help.
