As an MOD snivel-servant, I find myself under fire in the press for receiving a very very mediocre bonus. (Daily Telegraph, Thursday December 7 - 'Fury as MOD Civil Servants pocket £141m in bonuses'). The MOD Bonus system is performance- related.
Bearing in mind that a good day is when nothing happens, and that our best work goes un-noticed, it would be interesting to hear how others in the safety field get on!
So, as a matter of interest, what levels of bonus are other members getting?

No Bonus scheme, although the MD has made it clear that my perk is having a position in the company... (I am therefore gaining as much useful experience as I can prior to saying adieu.)

None - being self employed the only bonus I get is to please myself when I work and who to work for!

My bonus is that I enjoy doing what I do. Financial bonus? I wish!

Money is not a motivator.
Money/pay/level of reward is however a strong demotivator when you feel undervalued.
This position does not carry a bonus.
My previous position carried a possible 20% of salary. This also proved to be a bit of a demotivator because it was so constructed that if you met all your targets and stretch targets your bonus still had company profit multipliers and team multipliers to factor in.
So in my first year I managed to reach all my stretch goals, put in the extra effort and hours and ended up getting 6% due to company and team multipliers bringing it down from 20%. Then the Tax man took 25% of that.
PO'd big time.
Next year I did my stuff and didn't really pay that much attention to bonus just what mattered. Got 4% after tax without the late nights and still got the job done. Good result.
So bonus payments IMHO are good or bad depending if you feel you got a fair payment for the effort.

Try working for local authority there is definitely no such thing as a bonus and at the moment they are trying to REDUCE our already pitiful salaries.
I used to work in the NHS, they also do not get bonuses as it is seen as wasting public money which should be spent on the public.

Linda,
I think that only applies to the minions
Our LA CEO, much to my disgust, gets a bonus.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether you get a bonus or not!
I get a 10% salary bonus depending on whether I achieve my objectives, and whether the company makes a profit.
Bonus is due next week, don't know what it is going to be yet, but not really bothered, what I get, anything more than zero is a bonus.
I take pride in doing what I do knowing I can make a difference - thats itself is a bonus.
If you ain't happy - move on!

We apparently get one but its a bit cloak and dagger...you either get a little envelope slipped in your hand with a cheque in or you don't.

The only real bonus that matters is waking up still breathing.

You must lead a strange or unhealthy life if waking up is a bonus to you...

GSP, If I were you I would'nt say too much about brown envelopes with a cheque inside, the tax man may come and steal some of it.

The company i work for is Large and unfortunately a very honest one. So the relevant amount of Tax is deducted from January's pay cheque.
