At our company we have a situation where the fire exit route to the final exit door is via the HR Managers office.
At present the office door is kept locked for security of personnel files etc. A key is available by a break glass box at the side of the door.
The fire and rescue state that these are no longer available and the office must be kept open when the premises are occupied or we can fit a break glass latch, that when the glass is broken, it allows the door lock to be opened by the latch.
Does anyone know where these are available or any other similar device

HR should try locking filing cabinets then you can have break glass door bolts. All to often EHS guys are drawn into HR issues that can detract our focus (prevention of incidents and injuries to coin the buzz phrase).

the doors can be linked to the fire alarm (alarm goes off - doors are opened)

I take it the door is unlocked during normal office house?? But any good office or safety equipment supplier can provide you with a suitable break glass system. Have you thought about relocating the HR Manager's office?
