Posted By warderic We are about to have a small hand operated overhead factory crane built to measure by an outside company. The crane will be used for off loading timber frames from a press bed. I understand from the company carrying out the work that they basically buy in the completed mechanics of the crane , which is already CE marked, and bolt this to their prefabricated steel framework. The completed crane is welded/bolted etc in place on the customers site. The crane is then tested/inspected in accordance with applicable lifting regulations (LOLER). My question is: does the "now" completed crane need to undergo a new CE marking process?

Posted By William from what i can gather about this it would be the Supply of Machinery (safety)reg 1992 that apply i would check out whether a "declaration of incorporation" would apply here. you may be OK because the parts are all CE marked, but whether that means they meet the standard when all joined together is another question, but surely any company which is supplying and fitting them in the UK would ensure the crane meets the standard.
