Am hoping someone can help me with this. The info I have is a little woolly at the moment (apologies) but any general guidance would be appreciated.
I know of someone who deals with waste disposal at a local detention centre. This involves the disposal of all sorts of unpleasant material and can include human waste. My understanding is that polymers are used to bind the material together to allow it to be disposed of. Does anyone know whether the employers are legally obliged to provide innoculations regarding possible health issues. At the moment, I do not have a lot of information about the other control measures in place but any general info would be good.

There was something similar to your question on innoculations for 1st aiders because of their potential exposure to body fluids etc. I also beieve innoculations are offered to sewerage workers and they are certainly done for the medical profession.
However, I don't believe that any company is legally obliged to offer them, but if there are risks of this nature it would be good practise to at least offer.
We offer relevant innoculations to staff via our OH provider, give them all the necessary information and let them accept or decline as they wish, and keep a record of their decision just in case.
