Posted By R Joe Could anyone point me in the right direction of a good, short, well informed summary of the overall context and really important changes? Thanks RJ

Posted By holyterror72 Ive tried looking but haven't found anything useful. Ive contacted the HSE and asked and was told they wont be issuing anything until the ACoP is published in January. Any updates the HSE issue can be found at the following: http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/cdm.htm If you have any luck in the meantime please let me know.

Posted By holyterror72 I think they will. All they have to do is remove the draft in big letters off the most current version. I see though that someone is selling the draft CDM 2007 ACoP on ebay as CDM 2007 information! I bet they have sold loads.

Posted By GSP Would it not be best to study the published draft yourself to realise the main differences and how they effect you? I did this and got 2 pages worth of changes that i considered to be of value and important to note.

Posted By holyterror72 I agree reading the draft is best, but that wouldn't answer the original question.

Posted By R Joe Thanks for the responses so far. I have looked at the draft ACoP and the HSE website but it would still be useful to also have sight of any short, informed summary - which I'm surprised the HSE website doesn't appear to offer - as one thing that can be counted on is plenty of different interpretations! Posted By RP As is often the case, when a draft goes to the internet (HSE) it is usually the final one... Hmmm...ebay

Posted By Robert K Lewis The HSE have said that there is not a lot new more a matter of simplification. The nearest I can get without providing you with a workshop, which I am happy to do offline, is: 1) All construction work now included, notifiable and non-notifiable by virtue of the inclusion of the old CHSWR as section 4, along with the application regulation 2) Notification simplified 3) Group of key regulations for all construction work 4) Client duties and responsibilities clarified 5) PS role now replaced by coordinator with revised roles including creating H&S file 6) Designer duty to eliminate hazards sfrp has been added 7) PC and contractors largely unaffected 8) Client has to specifically ensure adequate welfare provision in CP plan 9) Very different arrangement of regulations and specific sections The rest and more is available on May 8th 2007 at the National Motorcycle Museum at the joint conference we are running with Midland Branch IOSH. Posted By GSP Crim, things don't come for free And as for not being helpful, is that because you don't like being told your child should be disciplined for swinging on and breaking a chair. Again get off you soap box ;)

Posted By Les Welling Have a look at the HSW magazine for December BSC(British Safety Council) where there is an excellent summary of the new CDM Regulations. We have just completed a course on the new CDM Regs run by the BSC which I can recommend. Contact the BSC for further details.

Posted By Crim The best thing about this chat site is occasionally we get some really useful guidance. I just followed John's advice and found the answer to the original question. It was dead simple too! Thanks John
