Posted By saira adams I am giving a short presentation on 'The Risk Assessment Process' to a small business next week, could anyone give me any guidance, or examples I could use to keep me on the right track.
Sorry I should have said that this is a college assignment presentation for a theoretical small business.
Many thanks in advance
Saira

Posted By Tony Brunskill Saira, Try www.hse.gov.uk there are many free publications relating to Risk Assessment. Probabbly the most useful are the guides for employers which can be downloaded as pdf docs. Tony

Posted By Zaphod Make sure you cover the three positive business benefits of risk assessment:
1. Good Health and Happiness of staff (this will make them more committed and productive)
2. Have more money to spend (because it is not being wasted on expensive accidents and you can negotiate better insurance premiums)
3. Excellent reputation (win tenders/customers etc through good H&S record)
Good luck!

Posted By Malcolm Greenhouse I am sure that everyone is trying to help but I think you need to understand what the college is looking for. The college will be looking to assess three aspects here.
1. Your understanding of the Risk Assessment process ( I actual don't like the term risk assessment as I think the main output from the process is the safe system of work to reduce the risks)
2. Your presentational skills (Aiming the presentation at the correct level for the audience and interacting with the audience, perhaps the inclusion of common hazards that are normally found - poor housekeeping is always a good one.)
3. Your ability to create your own presentation either on filp chart of power point. Whilst in the future you may always download presentations off the net don't forget that someone has had to create them. Better in the learning environment to try out putting a presentation together yourself and learn from the experience of using the software.
As a tutor I would give more marks to a home produced presentation that one that had obviously been simply downloaded from the net.
Do others who lecture agree?

Posted By B Hunter Hi Saira, There are some good suggestions on presentations at http://www.presentationhelper.co.uk/Not health and safety related but good tips that might help you pull together some of the other good advice given above. All the best with the presentation. Brian.
