Is there anyone out there can help ....

1. Has anyone had experience / knowledge of any accidents with vertical-mounted log splitters yet ? (a small domestic hire-out model, a 3-ton Austria made by Posch Leibnitz to be exact)

2. Is there any legal cases or fines imposed that someone has held of in their locality ?

3. Is there any specification that foot-operated machine controls have to be, the pedal/treadle style ?

4. Is there any obligation for a hire company to provide suitable training on equipment for public use, rather than at work ?

5. Are there certificated training courses on the use of log-splitters ?

Any help on these issues would be gratefully received ...

Thanks for a reply !!

All the providers that I know of only support professional users - one chap I know of tried all sorts to get chainsaw / splitter etc training for none prof use but to no avail

You need to get to grips with consumer / insurance law etc to fully understand a suppliers duties etc - Hire shops etc are getting tighter and tighter as to what they supply to the public because of claims etc - masny years ago I used to hire oxy / act cutting-welding kit [Yes I was fully competent to use such kit] but alas no more

Civil law still applies in all cases
