Does anyone know why the HSW Act 1974 has Chapter 37 on the front cover?

Posted By Jane Blunt Yes - ish Each year's Acts of Parliament are given a chapter number, starting at no. 1 each year. If you look at the OPSI site for 2006 you can see the legislation for 2006 in numerical order of chapter. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2006n.htmAs to why the term 'chapter' is used, I am uncertain, unless it is because we also refer to it as the 'Statute Book' Jane
