It is with great dread that I start this thread...

In advance of the introduction of the New Smoking Regs in Wales, I am attempting to compile a list of organisations that can help our employees to quit, if they so desire.

Can anyone supply any useful links?

Thanks in anticipation

Jon

Jonathan,

contact yur local G.P for details of any services they are currently providing, or your local NHS. In my local area in Scotland our local GP's are providing smoking cessation clinics. This involves some smokers being eligible for a one-off set programme including Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and a programme of appointed sessions with a trained counsellor to assist.

It has been almost a year since i gave up smoking and i tried different ways in the past such as willpower, patches, & chewing gum.

But the best by far was to read the "Easy Way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr, sadly he died at the end of last year 20 years after giving up an 80 a day habit, but i think he was well into his 70's, so i think that proves that no matter what age you are it is worthwhile to give up.

The difference between using his was way was that you realised what a complete con smoking is, i have never touched a cigarette since finishing the book (not even when having a drink), and i will never again.

He also set up clinics which will still be in operation and there is a freephone number for information which is 0800 389 2115, there is also a website which is
www.allancarreasyway.com

this will give you a list of clinics all over the country and there are many, in my own personal opinion this is the best way to quit by a long way and probably the cheapest.

Three years next month William, and I have the 4th copy of the book in my office. I had to carry it about with me for a few months after stopping to reinforce the message but haven't touched it for a year (a bit like a comfort blanket!). This was after patches, gum, abysmal will power, hypnosis and being stuck with needles.

The reason for it being the 4th copy? The first three were given away in the first year during the initial evangelical flush of beating the addiction.

So, yes, I would reinforce everything you've said and I just can't imagine touching another cigarette or cigar.

Nevertheless I still argue for the right of others to smoke, and especially rival H&S consultants.

There was a letter missing in the previous link;-)
this takes you to the page that has the info on the method used. The other links are easy to find too.
The company I work for is helping out by getting the NHS smoking cessation advisors in as well. Surely nobody would want to turn down free help?.........
There are a few employees who say they won't give up and insist that they will be the first to lose their job come June 1st.
Thankfully I don't smoke.............
