We're going to be refurbishing our offices in a couple of months, and I'm aiming to replace a real mixed bag of chairs with one standard.

I've had lots of "chair envy" reports of bad backs etc. and would like to provide one style of chair that has a very great level of adjustability in terms of height, back position, arm presence/abscence etc. so we fit everyone (or at least as many as possible).

Does anyone have any recommendations from previous new offices? Anything costing less than £200 would be really good.

Thanks in advance,
Al.

You can get these from stationery/office furniture suppliers.

I would get them to supply a few on trial and let the employees have a say in the choice e.g. small, medium, high back etc arms or no arms

Most of my experience is that the catalogue price is a lot higher than what you pay (they all seem to give at least a 25% discount)

Thanks Lilian.

I have a trial planned out, and a group of guine pigs already selected. I was more after any recommendations for specific chairs that have already proved a success elsewhere. I've counted over 3000 models available in the UK....... Need to narrow these down.

remember sales people are on a bonus to sell so be sure re what you want & not what they want

in my experience very regular computer etc users are usually best withot arm rests on the chairs-

one place I know ordered chairs without consulting users and ended up paying for arm rests then many people took them off because the 'rest' did not let people get close to the desks etc

Have a look at the "Humanscale freedom" chair. It's a bit more than your budget but comes with an excelelnt warranty and should fit most people. We get ours from Logic Office furniture but there are probably loads of suppliers out there. A quick google search brought up heaps. Good luck with the search.
