Posted By Mike de Klerk I'm looking for some professional opinions on this.
I have seen it done and have myself documented such a system using 9000:2000 as the basic platform for integration. However, as a practioner it kind off doesn't feel right.
It can be done and is being done yes, but is it the right why for companies to be going, and what then of the HSE Practioner? Where to from here?

In theory it can work well put there are many areas re H&S which are not present re production and none conformity in one area puts at risk the other area -
usually none conform re H&S [which is very easy] adversley affects production

Posted By John Lewis In my last company we held 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates. Eventually after about two years we opted for combined audits and a number of us were trained to do internal audits under an Integrated Management System. In my view it can be done relatively easily and the various elements do not conflict. The basic premise is that of Risk Assessment through all the disciplines.
BUT you MUST start from a high level of compliance in the first place and have committed experienced people throughout the organisation who understand the main elements of all three systems.
I am not suggesting that everyone be an expert, but by careful selection of your internal auditors i.e. from different areas and skill bases it is possible.
Realistically it is not something you will achieve without first doing the groundwork of getting each of the standards individually. If your employer does not have a good safety, environmental & quality culture you are on a hiding to nothing. Don't even raise the subject.
