Posted By The toecap Good day people, As a pricipal contractor and under CDM i cant get through to the thick head of the P.S who is also in the housing asociation that they have a duty to design out risks where possible. They are specifying, for no reason, that boiler flues are to be placed in upper bathrooms when the lower kithcen will do. If in the bathroom the flue has to go through the roof. Therefore, a risk included in any future maintenance. Anybody else have this problem.

One example would be having to redirect flues in order to avoid installing fall-protection equipment and barriers to enable safe access - sounds familiar. I find that the high-level stuff (roofs and lofts I mean) seems to get less attention in design terms than the generally accessible parts of buildings. If they run out of room internally the roof becomes an attractive option.
