Hi
Just a quick query for you, i'm currently reviewing LOLER inspections for our FLTs etc. The problem is i cannot find any records for the stand on PPTs.
Do these come under LOLER?, i have heard rumours else where that they do not as they only lift the pallet of the ground slightly but i am under the impression that as it is still "lifting equipment" then LOLER inspections are still required, i'm aware that they should be having maintenece checks but unsure on the LOLER ones.
Many thanks in advance.
Dean

The PPT Come in Varying Types some come under LOLER and others don't a blanket answer that non come under LOWER would be wrong.
But all come under the PUWER.
To be pedantic all equipment requires a written record of inspection. That way if the handle is bent it is reported and recorded and I find that if it’s recorded on paper it gets repaired faster.
It may also help you to know that there are a lot of accidents involving PPT
Every thing I have seen in my day to day work life points me in the way of let’s get them inspected.

Dean,
My experience with our Zurich Insurance LOLER inspection guy is PPTs do come under LOLER. Rule of thumb "any equipment that lifts anything off the ground (no matter how high) is classed as lifting equipment" and therefore falls into LOLER requirements.
