Can anyone recommend a good noise meter, which will give Leq, peak and frequency band analysis.

Our current meter is quite poor and only provides SPL and peak readings.

Have had a look at what is out there and it varies so vastly, any advice greatly appreciated.

The reason we are looking to buy, rather than contract out, is because we have around 6 distinct work areas which need to be measured and also monitored on a regular basis.

Thank you in advance.

What is your budget? My noise meter cost nearly £5,000!

to be honest I doubt if we could go to that level. Have seen some which vary between £1k and £2k.

Current meter cost £120, so you can guess how accurate/ effective it is.

Hi,

Sorry to be patronising (if I am)

Make sure you get a type 1 SLM - this means it is the most accurate. Anything unrated or below type 2, is not worth the plastic it's made of. If you are doing personal doses, dosebadges, whilst expensive are good, because they are only the size of a golf ball (when in use) and will do everything you want...
