Currently most of the workers are using laptops, which obviously is nt the best from an ergonomics perspective. they were given laptops because they are out of the office completing their audits. are docking stations a good investment or is it just better to get computers for all? if anyone has any experience in this area i would greatly appreciate it. i have to balance the resources provided by the firm with the needs and wants of the employees.

Posted By Ron Young Properly set up docking stations with separate keyboard, monitor and mouse are the best solution for this type of worker. Only potential downside might be a reduction of desk space if the laptop can't be set under the monitor stand and it has to sit next to it.

Posted By Mark W I agree that docking stations would be the better practice in the absence of fixed workstations. There are a number of very good laptop risers/stands on the market (a search on google will direct you to the usual suppliers!) Also as part of your control measure process it is worth considering providing DSE training specific for using laptops. I produced a laptop users guide for those in my Department. As I am sure you are only too aware using laptops on a regular basis does have additional risks over and above those normally associated with standard computers.
