I am proposing to carry out a Safety Climate Survey to assess the Cultural Maturity of the organisation that I work for so that I can plan any interventions that are required.

I have read through the numerous postings that have appeared previously and also the HSE research on the topic.

I had decided to go down the avenue of using the HSE Climate Survey Tool, only to be informed by HSE books that it is no longer under publication.

So I am looking for other practical tools that can be used in the offshore industry.

I was also wondering if the Shell "Hearts and Minds" package includes a survey tool and also if I could get any feedback from others who have used this.

Thanks in anticipation, Ian.

Not used it or the HSEs SCT. I devised my own safety climate survey, which is much more interesting and dare I say suggest more beneficial. Why not do the same?

Hi Ian

Have you seen the HSE: Summary guide to Safety Climate Tools, Offshore Technology Report, available at the web address below?

http://www.hse.gov.uk/RE...otopdf/1999/oto99063.pdf

I haven't read it, just remembered it being referenced in the SHP article in June 2006 (sad eh?) but it compares a number of different tools some of which I presume are still available.

Good Luck

Thanks for the responses so far.

Does anyone know why the HSE have stopped supplying their tool?

When I called, all they would say that it was being reviewed and a decision had not been reached on whether or not it was being put up for sale again.

Ian

Loughborough University Have a very good survey tool designed for off shore, free to down load, and they don't mind it being used, as long as they receive a copy of the results for their own survey data.

Hi

The links to the Loughbrough tool is in the Technology Report I mentioned earlier. The address quoted is http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/bs/safety/
