For some time now i have been struggling to get my company (17 sites) to arrange for PAT to be undertaken.

Having recently brought the subject up again during a meeting with the FD, a decision has finally been made to seriously look into the possibility of employing someone (part or full time) specifically to carry out PAT around our sites.

If anyone has any suppliers of PAT equipment they could recommend to me, along with recommendations for a suitable course for the employee to attend in order for him/her to carry out the work competently, i would be very grateful.

Anyone with a basic knowledge of sparkying can do this, shop around as some of the charges are extortionate for what you get.

We sent someone on a week course to do basic PAT - it was a city and guilds course - suggest you look through their website for training sources

Hi we bought PAT-IT equipment (google PAT-IT) and there was an option for training. I did it myself and was confident to do so, however I do only check office equipment, kettles and hand tools, so if there are bigger items, the c&g course looked very good. The equipment we bought almost does it for you but the paperwork takes ages, if you can afford it buy a barcode scanner type that speaks directly to a laptop..much easier. Hope this helps

Thanks for the response - your advice/help is appreciated. I will look into the C&G course.
