Hi Rommel,

HSG150 isn't a management system, it is guidance about how to achieve certain practical objectives in a particular industry. HSG65 discusses theoretical aspects of management which are common to all industries.

If you like, HSG150 will tell you how to write the operating procedures in a construction operation, and will talk about some of the common hazards and risks you need to be addressing. HSG65 will guide an organisation in writing the top-level policy and how this will determine who in the company does what, and how.

HSG65 focuses very much on how a large organisation can know that documents such as HSG150 are being applied, and how well they are working. HSG150 advises certain safe systems of work; HSG65 talks about how they should be audited, and who by, and so on.

Although HSG150 will allow safe practices to develop in construction, HSE Inspectors will still expect to see an overall management system which conforms with HSG65,

John
