Posted By Todd Hallam Does anyone know of a program, or publication that I can get hold of for my employer that has an extensive list of CoSHH sheets? Something that I can put our company logo on and easily distribute to all our sites is the key also.
Thanks muchly

Posted By Bob Youel Safety Data Sheets are not COSHH risk assessments therefore issuing them will not satisfy your duty unless you are issuing them to the competent people to use as part of the COSHH ris assessment process
Its COSHH risk assessments that you need specific to your work areas

Posted By Todd Hallam Sorry all, I guess I need to be a little more specific on this forum. Yes, I am after CoSHH risk assessment's, I currently have around 60 but am searching for am updated system or program. Even a company that can issue an ongoing supply.

Posted By MT What is it about your current COSHH risk assessments that needs to be updated? If you have had a change in the substance or the use of the substance, or perhaps the staff using it or the environment it's used in, then you need to revisit your risk assessment and check whether or not it's still relevant. Depending on the substances you are using, generic risk assessments are most likely not going to be suitable. You could also look at substituting some of the existing substances for something less hazardous, or perhaps reducing the amount of substances used by setting up a list of standard substances which can be used within the organisation. Apologies if you've already thought of these things. Have you ever used: http://www.coshh-essentials.org.uk/

Posted By holmezy Todd,
using someone elses COSHH assessment is a bit dodgy. Its ok if you only need it for guidance but you realy need to do your own assessment based on amounts of substance used, how its used, who is using it, storage, etc etc. You need to make it specific to your operation not rely on a generic or borrowed one.

Posted By Chris Packham Once again:- Caution about using MSDS for a COSHH risk assessment. MSDS are issued to comply with CHIP, not COSHH and, as paragraph 13 of the COSHH ACoP indicates, may not contain the information you need for an effective COSHH risk assessment.
You cannot rely upon risk phrases for a COSHH risk assessment, at least, not where you are dealing with skin exposure. One of the most common causes of occupational contact dermatitis is wet work. When did water have a risk phrase?
Some time ago the BOHS ran an internet seminar on this topic (What the safety data sheet doesn't tell you and what you really need to know!) There are notes from this on the BOHS website.
