Posted By Tim Corbett I have seen various operatives refilling these machines and have always noted that the machine appears live? Could anyone confirm that they are safe working and that there is no need to isolate the machine before re-filling?

Posted By Tabs It is a matter of risk. If they can accidentally make conatct with live electrical parts, yes. If they can make conact with dangerous moving parts, yes. Without seeing the specific machine, I doubt there would be any injury caused if the machine began a normal cycle for some reason. The dispensing mechanisms tend to be easy to avoid or even stop.

Posted By Tim Corbett I understand that it is a level of risk. I just wondered if anyone had dealings with these machines and what the SSOW and RA for them would be? Level of risk low (hopefully) to contact with live wiring. I just wondered? as we have all seen these things being filled and have we ever questioned what we saw? It has suprised me how much live working we do see lamp replacement etc. Is it just me or am I becoming over cautious?

Posted By Gwahir Hi Guys, Please let me put your minds at ease, I work for a company that make and refurb these machines, along with coolers and dispenced equipment, there is absolutly no danger from contact with live electrical current or moving parts, they are the same as your fridge. You would not do a risk assessment every time you go into a fridge or use a coffe maker. Hope this helps

Posted By Tim Corbett Gwahir Thank you for the information. It puts my mind to rest, you just never know and sometimes asking the operative can lead to unnecessary defensive conflict. As for a RA for opening a fridge? yes if its some of the ones you see in some offices!! Thanks again
