Posted By leethorne Would any person be kind enough to advise on suitable software to allow me to produce Electronic Health and Safety Files?
I have seen these issued by various Companies such as Laing O'Rourke and e-documents, however such parties are quite guarded as to what software was used. I require something simple, graphically impressive and able to drop in the relevant text and pdf documents in the relevant areas.
Searches to date have been fruitless, so any help would be gratefully recieved.

Posted By leethorne Additionally, I am aware and frequently use systems such as BIW. I am not looking for an online type system, more of a burn to CD solution, suitable for smaller residential projects and refurbs.

Posted By Thomas Elliott Hi there, At my previous employment we purchased a full Health and Safety Management Information System from a company called RIVO Safeguard www.rivo.co.uk. We had a number of interested competitors at the tender stage, but RIVO 'won' hand down due to their user friendly system which also covered all the elements of our desired specification. I would definitely recommend them. Kind regards Thomas

Posted By Thomas Elliott Ah, apologies, I posted while you were updating your initial thread. RIVO is an online based system.
Kind regards
Thomas

Posted By leethorne Thanks Thomas.
I suppose the key question is "will I have to fork out the earth for tailor made software or is there suitable existing off the shelf packages which would be suitable for adaption or have been adapted by a learned colleague?"

Posted By holyterror72 Depending on the quantity you need to produce, why not set up your own word template and convert it all to PDF with links, etc. If done properly it can look very professional and has the added advantage of being to make alot more specific which isnt always easy in 'off the shelf' software packages.

Posted By Andrew Rushton I frequently convert word to PDF. You can also paste other PDF files in to word document then convert the whole document to a single PDF file.
We use cutePDF writer. Free download from the internet and installs as another printer. Really easy to use.

I have used the BIW/Infomatrix systems on about 40 odd projects and have been impressed with the user friendlyness of them and the practicality of them, whislt they are an online system, Infomatrix IIRC did offer the facilty to to take the completed file and put onto discs.

Posted By Rob Hughes I agree, pdf can be very usedul but you can also save word documents as web pages and use hyperlinks to link other documents, web pages, pdfs etc. or even open forms.

Posted By leethorne Rob,
Cheers. I have spoken with a PC whizz since and it would seem the way forward is setting up the pages in a web format then hyperlinking the pdf forms. I have been assured this can be done without costing the earth.
Cheers all for your help. If anyone does happen to come across a proprietory software package that may be of use, please let me know.
