Hi,
I am currently writing a working at height procedure, and need to develop an emergency rescue procedure for recovery from fall arrest systems. Unfortunately crane/cherry pickers etc are not an option. If anyone could assist me on where i may get information on emergency rescue procedures or whether you have had to write such a procedure before and give me some advice.
Many Thanks

HSE have lots of info & try a harness etc supplier e.g. Spanset of Cheshire
one very important point = the recovery position is NOT favourable if somebody has been in a collapsed situation of any time above a very few mins whilst suspended via a harness --
this is one a person on the ground would have to fight the paramedic etc with
Additionally the safety period is very short -down to mins not half hours

I second the advice to use Spanset and we use their "Gotcha" system in almost all our situations. We also use DB SALA Suspension Straps and provide special training for Suspension Trauma.
Contact me direct and I will mail you all the info

We at Total Access have spent a while looking at this issue and have developed a bespoke piece of safety equipment called the Rescue GENIE, it is very simple to use and supported by a full training programme.
I realise that it is a fine line on promoting products on this forum but we do support a lot of IOSH member questions where technical support if required on Height Safety issues, so I hoped that you wouldn't mind me mentioning our new product for this rescue application?
We will be exhibiting at IOSH 07 where this product will have its formal launch.

If you have a solution the sooner it's out there the better as far as I'm concerned.
