Posted By P. Moore We have a fire door in an industrial unit that separate a stores area from offices. It is sitting at an angle and has a visible gap between it and the door frame. This is obviously unacceptable. However, the door frame is situated in a stud partition wall of unknown fire resistivity. I am unsure what to specify in terms of fire rating for a new door. Can anyone offer any suggestions, please?

Posted By Makka Personally if it is a proper fire door I would suggest getting the door serviced rather than replaced, this is often more cost effective than a replacement. In-tumescent and smoke strips can all be fitted to replace existing ones, and if need be the door jamb can also be replaced. If there are gaps between the frame and the walls, these can be filled with fire resistant foam, and sealed with fire stopping mastic.
