We want to lift some equipment into position from a fixed structure e.g. building steelwork.
Surely LOLER isn't applicable to the steel structure. I appreciate it is a lifting operation but surely the steel structure isn't classed as lifting equipment! However, we would check that the structure would take the loads, e.g by basic calc, and also visually inspect. We would use CE marked lifting gear e.g. shackles, clamps, slings, etc.
Does anyone agree?

it would be, as if you use beams to hang a block off they still need to be certified for the SWL.

It still comes under LOLER because all lifts should be properly planned etc
