And I have never heard of NVQ level 6; would you perchance be making reference to the recent change to the dip that is now level 6 which is still an equivalent of level 4 NVQ where the previous dip 1 & 2 was at level 4? And I too would be most interested in seeing the originally posted question by Adam answered. CFT

Posted By Alexander Falconer Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear........! Still the same amount of confusion going around, I see, and no wonder. David is correct in the issue of the diploma level 6, BUT it is not a higher qualification than a NVQ level 4, it is actually the same, and they are both of a similar standard to a degree. How is this? The confusion arises as a result of the restructuring of the National Qualification Framework which for England and Wales is actually 8 levels, NVQ 4 and the Diploma level 6 both fall under Level 6 the same as degrees. NVQ 5 is a higher qualification, listed at levels 7/8, as are Masters and Doctorates. In Scotland we have the Scottish Qualifications Framework consisting of 12 levels, Level 6 is only comparable with a SVQ 3 and Highers. SVQ 4 and HND's are listed at Level 8, Degrees are at Level 9, whilst SVQ 5/Masters are at level 11. Mind boggling...........! We are the UK, and there should be a single entity for qualifications to make life easier for everyone. Just do the google search for National Qualification Framework and Scottish Qualifications Credit Framework and these will clarify things.
