Posted By Chris G Does anyone have any infomation on the minimum dimensions for cap parking spaces & minimum widths for car park acess isles or better still what are best practice dimensions. Our works car park was marked out in the days of the Austin A40 and is inadequate for todays vehicles. Chris

Posted By Frank Newman I don't have the information but there is a British Standard. I do believe that the MDs Jaguar requires less space than the financial officer's Rolls. The H&S persons 2cv can be parked on a handkerchief. Merv

Posted By CFT Chris I thought the guide was 2.4m x 4.8 and believe it to be a recommendation in the Town and Country Planning order 1984 or similar, (may be wrong and stand to be corrected) Just been out and measured one of the 300 spaces we have here and I cant find two the same (Monday morning or Friday afternoon white lining) mean average however would be the same as above. Merv!!!2CV forget it ol boy, all I do is wip by cycle clips off and wipe my hands on my leather elbow patches.

Posted By Frank Newman Come on. there is a direct correlation between the size of the car driven by the most senior safety person and the accident frequency. Companies with a Director of Health and Safety (where said director usually drives a jag, Mercedes or a Bentley) have better stats than those where the senior H&S person rides a bike. (usually, but not always, means they are low paid and poorly regarded) No insult intended. Merv

Posted By TBC What's parking spaces got to do with H&S? Are you covering a Facilities Management roll as well? Or has your employer just dumped it onto you as happens? If sure you've got better things to do.

Posted By Chris G There is a sort of H&S link. The concern was raised that the small dimensions of the spaces and isles enhances the size of blind spots and requires more maneouvering to get in and out of spaces. Excessive maneouvering and lower vissibility adds up to greater risk to pedestrians. Shift change time can mean 100+ cars moving round the area. Before anyone says go green. We are a long way off any buss routes and the traffic levels on local access routes has deterred many cyclists. Our own intersite bus doesn't connect up to any public services & would't be of use to afternoon & night shift teams Chris

Posted By Chris Packham Merv I take it that the smaller space for your 2CV is matched by the second, larger space you need for that Rover 75? Chris
