I don't have a check sheet i can send you but all of the following should be considered when doing racking inspections.
1.Upright damage - Any damage, deflection, twists, buckles to any of the uprights should be recorded and acted upon. (refer to SEMA guidelines for deflection rates etc)
2. Bracing damage - Any damage, deflection, twists, buckles to any of the braces should be recorded and acted upon.
3. Beam damage - Any damage, deflection, twists buckles to any of the beams should be recorded and acted upon.
4. Missing safety pins - Record locations where safety pins are missing and arrange for them to be replaced. Ensure saftey pins present are fixed in the correct manner.
5. Racking alignment - If the racking doesn't look as though it is straight or it looks as though it has gone wonky as such, or is misaligned with other racking, note this and get a specialist in to investigate.
6. Storage of pallets - Ensure all pallets are stored in the correct manner and that there is no loose pallet wrapping hanging down etc, take a note of broken pallets as well and arrange for them to be replaced ASAP. Ensure all pallets stored above head height are pallet wrapped.
7. Look for corrosion on uprights, bracing and beams, we have had trouble with this in the past in our dry store areas due to the products stored on them.
8.Uprights secured - Ensure that all uprights are secured into the ground, as far as i am aware only one bolt is needed per upright section (i may be corrected).
9.Upright protection - Is there adequate protection to the uprights in high risk areas -corners, turning spots, doorways etc.
10.Load notices - Ensure each aisle has a load notice that is displayed.
All of the above can be incorparated into a check sheet using your own location codes etc.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
