Posted By Neil Hancock Hi
Over the past few months I have been receiving numerous emails from companies about health and safety projects, documents and confidential information. Each attempt to contact the interested parties and inform them that I am not working in H & S at present still does not rectify this problem.
This has got me thinking that perhaps someone is using my name or that it is potentially some sort of data collecting scam ?
Any ideas how I can stop this ? It’s just a pain as it my home address.
Yours Faithfully
Neil Hancock BSc (Hons) MSc

Posted By Arran Linton - Smith I once bought a registered domain name which became unusable as a spammer simply used this to dump all their bounced and return mail.

Posted By Merv Newman We used to have a domain name which was referenced from the company web site but had to drop it because spam outnumbered other stuff by 100 to 1.
We are now on gmail. No spam yet.

Posted By Sima Patel Dear forum users,
Remember that if you choose to reveal your email address to other forum users you may open yourself up to a lot of email.
Anyone wishing to hide their registered email address can do so by first logging in, and then selecting ‘update my details’ from the section links panel on the right of your screen. At the foot of the next screen you'll see an option that reads: ‘Make my email address viewable to others’. Make sure that ‘no’ is selected, and then click ‘update my information.’
If you want to show your email address, we recommend that you consider setting up an email account specifically for using on the Internet.
Kind regards,
Sima Patel Web Assistant IOSH

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Ohyes!
If you post a thread and want people to e-mail you don't forget to reactivate it, otherwise you'll look a bit daft (been there - trust me)!
However, it's a bit late if you're already receiving the spam as they already have your address. As per Merv's suggestion a change of e-mail is probably needed in that case.

Ive had a couple of ingenious recruitement agencies with good opportunities so I'm not complaining even though I'm not looking at the moment, but also some emails from Nigeria, one of them asking basically for ideas on how to launder money! I would have blamed that one on another avenue but Ive had 2 others from Nigeria looking for H&S work related info.
Perhaps a change of email addresss is required....

Posted By Neil Hancock I should point out that these emails are about ongoing projects. Not junk mail etc.

Posted By Merv Newman You may or may not have noticed that I have got my name back again. No more "Frank"
All thanks to the patience of Sima. Thank you
Neil, if people are offering you H&S work why not pass them on to one of the manymany consultants who log on to this chat show. Sorry. Discussion forum.
Merv
(not me, thanks. I'm just about up to my left eyebrow at the moment. (the right one is slightly raised))

Posted By Jim Walker This is why my e-mail number don't show and has not done so for a few years. I just got sick of the "doorstep salesmen".
Glad to see you are no longer Frank, Merv.
