Posted By Karen Hodkin I've recently started working as a self-employed Dental Consultant offering Risk Assessments, COSHH and other Health and Safety advice to Dental Practices, I've been advised that I need Professional Liability Insurance to cover me for the spoken and written word but haven't been able to find an Insurance company or broker who understands what I'm after. Any ideas where I can go to get such advice????

Posted By Mr Dinky Hello there are two main types of insurance you require and these are
1 - Professional Indemnity - this provides cover against any wrongful advice error or ommission caused by you in respect of your business.
2 - Public Liability - this provides cover for any physical injury or damage caused by you either on your own premises or any premises you visit in the course of your business. e.g you spill coffee over a customers computer.
If you expand and take on employees then you will also need Employers Liability Insurance which is compulsory, but if you are seld employed or the single director of a limited compnay then this is not required.
Hope this helps but if you need any further info send me an email.
From an insurance broker who is starting to expand into Health & Safety!!!!
