Dear all

Can anybody tell me whether a diesel driven jet wash machine being used to clean walkway tiles would be classified as a pressure system and therefore come under the Pressure system safety regs 1999.

Thanks in anticipation

Paul,

yes, sorry, bit sarcastic, been a long and unrewarding day so I apologise. There is a long list of things that wouldnt be covered by the pressure systems regs and washers were on it, but I cant find where I got that info from....so sorry if I'm no help!

Cut and paste the above, it should give you some useful pointers on Pressure Systems.

Basically, it's considered to be too small a "system" so you won't need written schemes etc. but do consider maintenance and training etc.

Hope that's helpful.

need to be careful, and read below Regs for further advise

Pressure System Safety Regs
Pressure Equipment Regs
Pipeline Safety Regs

All may have some bearing on what you are asking

One set of regs gives a confusing set of definitions between a pipeline and pipework

Is the pressure washer for hot water (above 110 degrees) this is a relevant fluid and may come under the PSSR Regs

does the machine have other pressurised pipework/pipeline with other fluids (hydraulic oil, diesel etc)

It is not straight forward

I was told that due to the pressurised water being created in a pump it did not come under any of the above regs, but on reading them I am not so sure, so I utilised some of the info as good practice
